UPS Update July 3, 2012

UFCW Local 401 has received many questions regarding the progress of the successorship from the old UPS, which included United First Nations Corp, to the new UPS which is simply called United Protection Services Inc. The hearings regarding the successorship application put forward by UFCW Local 401 are scheduled for August 27 and 28, 2012. In the interim a resolution conference has been set for July 6, 2012.

Local 401 does not predict that the resolution meeting regarding the successorship application will be fruitful.  It is clear to UFCW Local 401 that this Employer does not want to deal with a union that protects its workers.  Rather the Company would prefer to continue with the same working conditions.

The workers at UPS deserve a lot more than they’re getting. The way the Company is paying its workers is inconceivable.  Further the Employer still persists in firing workers without proper notification or justification.

“I would like to personally thank all the workers of UPS for their strong support, determination, and resolve in this unionization effort,” says Local 401 President Douglas O’Halloran. “It is apparent that this Employer does not respect the hard work and dedication that you put forward in your profession.”

UFCW Local 401 will continue to stand beside the UPS Security Guards, no matter how long it takes, and address any number of curve balls the Company chooses to throw our way so that UPS guards can be represented by a union that will go to bat for their rights.
