Negotiations break off - Union applies to Government for Mediation

SECURITAS UPDATE Feb. 3, 2012 - Recent negotiations between your Union negotiating committee and your Employer have broken off. With no hope in sight, the Union has decided that the best course of action is to apply for Government Legislated Mediation.

What this means is that the Government essentially provides a person who tries to get the two sides closer to a deal. The Union is hopeful that this process will achieve exactly that, however, given the Employer’s position at the negotiating table, we are not overly optimistic.

The Company has provided your committee what it claims is its best monetary offer. Sadly, it represents no improvements to your wages and benefits for the next three (3) years.

This position is obviously unsatisfactory to us and when the Employer refused to improve its offer, we advised them that we would be applying for Mediation.

We have dates set currently for Mediation from March 5th through March 9th, 2012. We are hopeful that we will be able to come out of those meetings with a reasonable offer for you to vote on. If we are not successful in reaching an agreement at those meetings, we will be coming to you for direction on a course of action going forward.
