Pay Issues!!

Employees from United Protection Services/United First Nation Corp. frustrated with the companies continued inability to pay their employees properly. Local 401 have negotiated penalties in some collective agreements as a deterrent for this very same issue, for example in the Real Canadian Superstore Collective agreements.

“In the event that employee is not paid the correct amount as a result of an error made by the employer, the employee shall be compensated and additional 10% of any shorted amount, provided the employee brings the matter to the attention of the employer as determined above in the week following paid day.  If the error is not corrected by the next payroll, a further 10% of the original shorted amount will be paid and this process will continue until the payroll issue is corrected.”

UFCW Local 333, the local that represents some of the security guards in Ontario have negotiated language in their Collective agreements that payroll errors shall be paid by means of a manual cheque within 3 days of the payroll error.

“The company agrees to correct and payout any payroll error greater than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) within three (3) business days”
