Brooks, Alberta Food Bank Says, “Thanks UFCW 401” for Contributions

UFCW 401 was honoured to receive a very public “thank-you” from the Brooks Food Bank for our substantial cash donation in the wake of last October’s e-Coli breakout at the Lakeside meatpacking plant, which lead to a prolonged closure that greatly affected thousands of our members.

While we take on numerous issues within the workplace, there are many community efforts we also contribute to.

Recently, UFCW 401 was honoured to receive a very public “thank-you” from the Brooks Food Bank for our substantial cash donation in the wake of last October’s e-Coli breakout at the Lakeside meatpacking plant, which lead to a prolonged closure that greatly affected thousands of our members.

We also made a food donation during that time.

Throughout the years, 401 has made donations to the Brooks Food Bank because we see it as part of our social responsibility in a community where so many people are dependent on such a large employer for their livelihood. Many work at the plant, or at businesses that benefit directly from Lakeside being in town, and when this business is affected by such crisis there are many, many people affected.

We thank the Brooks Food Bank for the thoughtful recognition in recognizing us as one of their many donors. But most of all, we thank THEM for their dedicated work in serving the community.
